Race Village

The race starts and finishes each day at the Zuurberg Mountain Village, with the race village serving as a central hub for riders to socialise, relax and refuel. With top-notch amenities, the race village offers a variety of delicious food options, open bars and entertainment to create a festive atmosphere for riders. 

Accommodation

A range of accommodation options are available from the 4-star cottages as part of the hotel to luxurious tents. Riders can look forward to an exhilarating and enjoyable ride while enjoying the unique wildlife and natural surroundings that make the Great Zuurberg and the Addo Region one of South Africa’s top attractions.

Platinum Cottages

The 4 star cottages are arranged so that guests can enjoy both the spectacular mountain and valley views.

Gold Luxury Tents

The popular Luxury Tented village is situated within walking distance from start / finish line, dining area and chill zone with a dedicated shower and toilet area.

Silver Hayterdale Tents

The Hayterdale Trails village is situated 9km distance from start / finish line with an easy drive along the Zuurberg Pass. The Village includes a Clubhouse with cash bar, Tented Area, Pool, Showers and Toilets

  • No Linen or Pillows Supplied
  • Hot Showers
  • Toilets

The Great Zuurberg Trek events are all about allowing riders to maximise their experience both on and off the bike. We’ve partnered with a few of the best to bring their first class services directly to you at the Race Village. 

Airport Shuttle

A complimentary shuttle is available from the airport in Gqeberha to the Zuurberg Mountain Village (Race Village), returning after the event.

 

Pre-booking is essential, if you intend to use the complimentary shuttle please add it to your package when entering.

Bike Transport

Bike transport is available from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town to the Zuurberg Mountain Village (Race Village) and back at R600 per person.

 

Please add this option to your package when you enter as booking is essential.

Bike Services

The Great Zuurberg Trek events will host Cyclo Pro who can ensure your equipment is professionally maintained throughout the duration of our 3-day events.

Please note: Limited booking space may be available, so we suggest you book your spot as soon as possible.

The service fee of R1 500 for two services includes labour but excludes any additional parts required.

Massages

Our professional and experienced team, comprises of massage therapists and physios dedicated to soothing your aching muscles after a tough day in the saddle.

 

The physios will offer a combination of massage, physio treatment, needling and strapping, depending on individual needs. Please specify when booking if you need to be treated by a physio.

 

Pre-booking and payment are essential to alleviate administration at the event. 

The services on offer include:

  • 1 Day x 30 min massage – R400
  • 1 Day x 60 min massage – R750
  • 2 Day x 30 min massage – R750
  • 2 Day x 60 min massage – R1 300
  • 1 Day x 30 min recovery boots – R300
  • 2 Day x 30 min recovery boots – R450
  • Strapping – R50

Rider Schedule

The riders will enjoy breakfast and dinner at their respective choice of accommodation, either at the Zuurberg Mountain Village or Hayterdale Trails. All riders will enjoy lunch at the Zuurberg Mountain Village. Please note the Rider Schedule may vary.

On Registration Day, all riders will complete the registration process, which includes completing and submitting the Participant Waiver & disclaimer forms. Before registration, review important race documents, including the Participant Waiver. During registration, you will receive your race package. Please check that all items are enclosed – you will sign receipt of this.

Riders must please remember to present a photo identification document (driver’s license, passport or ID book) as proof of identity. Teams have to register together, and no late registrations will be allowed. If a team has not registered, they will not be allowed to start. All riders need to be in possession of a valid CSA license, if not, a day license can be purchased at registration for R50.00 per day.
