Race Village

The race starts and finishes each day at the Zuurberg Mountain Village, with the race village serving as a central hub for riders to socialise, relax and refuel. With top-notch amenities, the race village offers a variety of delicious food options, open bars and entertainment to create a festive atmosphere for riders. 

Accommodation

A range of accommodation options are available from the 4-star cottages as part of the hotel to luxurious tents. Riders can look forward to an exhilarating and enjoyable ride while enjoying the unique wildlife and natural surroundings that make the Great Zuurberg and the Addo Region one of South Africa’s top attractions.

AfriCamps Glamping Tents

Imagine unwinding in your private wood-fired hot tub, overlooking incredible views after an incredible day on the trails. Each AfriCamps tent, situated at Hayterdale Trails only 9km from the Start / Finish.

Silver Hayterdale Tents

The Hayterdale Trails village is situated 9km distance from start / finish line with an easy drive along the Zuurberg Pass. The Village includes a Clubhouse with cash bar, Tented Area, Pool, Showers and Toilets

The 2025 complimentary apparel design will be released soon!! Enjoy as our official technical apparel partner! Together with  Enjoy our technical apparel partner we’ll be creating a stylish, performance-focused event collection for 2025.

 

Riders will still have the opportunity to complement their complimentary apparel with additional kit pieces, all designed with the latest technology and styles. From the popular Supremium Jersey to the lightweight Atom Jacket, each item promises comfort, sustainability, and peak performance.

How to Order Your Complimentary GZT Apparel Once Released:

  1. Visit the Enjoy Race Shop and browse the GZT 2025 collection.

  2. Check your sizing with the Enjoy sizing guide.

  3. Add your selected items to your cart.

  4. Complete your purchase by no later than 15th April 2025.

Collection: All ordered apparel will be ready for collection at registration at the Zuurberg Mountain Village in Addo on the 22nd of May 2025, just in time for the event. Please note all orders not received by the deadline will be shipped to the rider after the event.

Airport Shuttle

A complimentary shuttle is available from the airport in Gqeberha to the Zuurberg Mountain Village (Race Village), returning after the event.

 

Pre-booking is essential, if you intend to use the complimentary shuttle please add it to your package when entering.

Bike Transport

Bike transport is available from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town to the Zuurberg Mountain Village (Race Village) and back at R650 per person.

 

Please add this option to your package when you enter as booking is essential.

Bike Services

The Great Zuurberg Trek events will host Cyclo Pro who can ensure your equipment is professionally maintained throughout the duration of our 3-day events.

 

Please note: Limited booking space may be available, so we suggest you book your spot as soon as possible.

The service fee of R1 500 for two services includes labour but excludes any additional parts required.

Airport Shuttle Schedule

The  complimentary shuttle service is available to transport you from Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport in Gqeberha to the race village in the Zuurberg mountains. Plan your travel to arrive at Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport in Gqeberha between 12h00 and 17h00 on Thursday and departure between 15h00 and 18h00 on Sunday.

 

Thursday – Shuttle 1 – Expected departure time 14h00.  This will cover all flights before 13h30 arrivals
Thursday – Shuttle 2 – Expected departure time 16h30
Thursday – Shuttle 3 – Expected departure time 17h30.  Expected arrival time at the race village is between 8 and 9pm.

 

The transfer to the race village can take up to two hours we therefore encourage riders to take the earlier shuttles where possible.

 

After the weekend’s festivities, the shuttle will leave the race village at 13h30 on Sunday.

 

Please take into account that we would need to bank on two hours travel time from the race village to the airport. To get you there on time our shuttles would have to leave at least three hours before the scheduled flight time. They will leave sooner if all are on board.

Massages

Our professional and experienced team, comprises of massage therapists and physios dedicated to soothing your aching muscles after a tough day in the saddle.

 

The physios will offer a combination of massage, physio treatment, needling and strapping, depending on individual needs. Please specify when booking if you need to be treated by a physio.

 

Pre-booking and payment are essential to alleviate administration at the event. 

The services on offer include:

  • 1 Day x 30 min massage – R450
  • 1 Day x 60 min massage – R800
  • 2 Day x 30 min massage – R800
  • 2 Day x 60 min massage – R1 500
  • 1 Day x 30 min recovery boots – R350
  • 2 Day x 30 min recovery boots – R450
  • Strapping – R50 per area

Prize Money

  • The 2025 Great Zuurberg Trek prize money will be shared among the team members, with equal prize money for the open male, open female and mixed team categories.
  • The 2025 Great Zuurberg Trek prize money will be shared among the team members, with equal prize money for the open male, open female and mixed team categories.
  • If there are 10 teams or more in your category, the top three teams will be awarded prize money.
  • If your category consists of between six and nine teams, only the top two will receive prize money.
  • In categories that consist of between three and five teams, the first placed finisher team will be awarded prize money.
  • Categories: Male Team, Female Team and Mixed Team
    • 1st – R5,000 per team

    • 2nd – R3,500 per team

    • 3rd – R2,000 per team

On Registration Day, all riders will complete the registration process, which includes completing and submitting the Participant Waiver & disclaimer forms. Before registration, review important race documents, including the Participant Waiver. During registration, you will receive your race package. Please check that all items are enclosed – you will sign receipt of this.

Riders must please remember to present a photo identification document (driver’s license, passport or ID book) as proof of identity. Teams have to register together, and no late registrations will be allowed. If a team has not registered, they will not be allowed to start. All riders need to be in possession of a valid CSA license, if not, a day license can be purchased at registration for R50.00 per day.
